Introduction

Actinic Keratosis Treatment

Actinic Keratosis (AK), also known as Solar Keratosis, is a common precancerous skin condition that affects approximately 1 million Australians each year. Similar to melanomas, BCC & SCC, Australia has the highest incidence of AK in the world due to its harsh sun conditions.

Actinic Keratosis lesions typically appear as a scaly or crusty growth in areas that are frequently exposed to sunlight. The most common areas are the face, lips, ears, nose, neck, arms, chest and back. People who have fair complexions are more prone to AKs than are people with medium or dark skin.

Actinic Keratosis is considered a pre-cancerous condition, but is very treatable. Standard therapies include topical ointments, freezing, surgical excision and Photodynamic Therapy. Now doctors are increasingly turning to fractional lasers, such as Fraxel Restore and Fraxel Repair Dual CO2 laser technology, to effectively treat this precancerous skin condition.

MD Cosmedical Solutions Sydney Skin Clinics specialize in treating these dermatological skin conditions and utilize both Fraxel Restore and Fraxel Repair Dual CO2 Lasers.
